Anxiety and Stress

Do you feel you can’t cope?
Are small things getting to you?
Has your tolerance gone down and your irritability gone up?
Is your panic attacking you?

If so this suggests your anxiety levels are too high.

Our solution focused approach based on the science of the brain, helps you to understand what is causing the anxiety in the first place or why it’s happening.

It is important to realise that anxiety is a normal primitive reaction in the brain to alert us to threat. It is very useful if we are in danger. If we are not, then this continued level of alertness and stress over time, can be detrimental to our wellbeing and health.

Hypnotherapy helps you relax and can bring your levels of anxiety right down.

If anxiety and stress are limiting your life, then get in touch to discuss how hypnotherapy can help.

Can’t sleep at night ?

Sleep is vital to our health and well-being. Lack of sleep affects many areas of life and often results in being stressed, anxious, short tempered, irritable and lacking in energy and motivation. Indeed the inability to sleep can become an obsession, making things worse as all the worrying about not being able to sleep, keeps you awake and agitated.

Hypnotherapy is a very useful tool, to get your sleeping under control! Find out how this has helped myself and others.

Confidence and Self Esteem

Do you want to feel more confident and less anxious?
Do you want to feel more comfortable looking in the mirror?
Do you want to be more kind to yourself ?

A good level of self confidence and self esteem are extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives. We all need a good and healthy level of confidence to feel happy and enjoy our lives .

Using positive visualisations and hypnosis, your perception of yourself can change to a much more positive one. Let’s discuss how we can help you find your way back into a confident, happy, ‘you’ again.

Unwanted Habits

Do you what to stop biting your nails?
Do you want to control your drinking?
Do you want to manage your sweet tooth?

Hypnotherapy helps break these habits as we interrupt the pattern of reaction to stimuli and helps you access that part of the brain that is rational and solution focused. I have also had success treating facial tics. Don’t let these unwanted habits get you down.

Phobias and Fears

Are your fears getting worse?
Are you fears stopping you leading the life you want?

It is important to understand why we have fear. Fear is there to keep us safe and out of danger. However, if these fears get out of control and limit our life and what we do, then Hypnotherapy is a very effective and safe method of facing your fears, getting rid of them and getting you back in control of your life again.

We know that fears can be changed and solution focused hypnotherapy can be very effective in helping you do that. Imagine your life without this fear and how great that feels, what will you be doing, what will you be feeling?

Menopausal Issues

Hot Flushes?
Lost your Mojo?

Menopause is not an illness. It is a natural phase in your life. For some women it is a positive experience but for others menopause can be accompanied by a range of symptoms including hot flashes, disrupted sleep, weight gain, anxiety, loss of confidence and tiredness.

Using mind/body techniques you can get your symptoms under control and get on with enjoying your life.

If you are considering a natural approach to menopause, you might be interested in recent research results on the effectiveness of hypnosis for lessening the effects of hot flushes. Published by Science Daily in July 2010, the research reported how “cool” imagery can reduce the sensation of heat. View this report here.

Chronic Pain

Pain is the output our brain makes to defend us. It is what alerts us to danger and it acts as a protective mechanism to make us stop and do what we need to, to take care of ourselves. Our brain decides if something is painful or not. This is hard to comprehend because we feel pain in parts of our body, therefore we believe the pain comes from those parts, but in fact pain is determined by the brain.

However, when pain is ongoing the body’s danger response to sensory input becomes over sensitised and our internal alarm system stays on red alert, which further intensifies the cycle of pain.

Chronic pain and illness is debilitating, isolating and extremely stressful.

Can hypnosis can actually make a difference for pain?

Science has discovered that thoughts, emotions and physical movement create chemical reactions in our body, which either calm down our central nervous system or turn the alarm volume up.
Hypnosis can calm the internal alarm system down and help reduce pain. There is physical evidence that hypnosis works to alleviate chronic pain, and medical imaging studies have shown that hypnotic therapy influences all of the cortical and neuro-physiological processes that underline pain. Current scientific research shows that hypnotherapy treatment causes both pain perception thresholds, and pain tolerance levels, to be strikingly increased.

Hypnotherapy is safe, drug free and also works to support other medical and alternative therapeutic approaches you may be using in your multidisciplinary approach to healing.

Smoking Cessation

How different would your life be if you gave up smoking?
What would be better ?

Once you decide that you have a strong reason for stopping smoking, such as health reasons or financial or other, you can easily stop, with the help of hypnotherapy. Did you know that the chemical addiction of nicotine from cigarettes is out of your system after 72 hours? So in fact, after that time, you have already conquered the addiction aspect of smoking. The remainder is to conquer the habit and Hypnotherapy is a fast, effective and powerful tool for the eradication of unwanted habits and smoking is probably the easiest!

Hypnosis will be able to change your relationship with cigarettes and remove the desire to smoke. No gimmicks are necessary, no patches or Nicorettes.

Anti-smoking therapy is completed in one session of 90 to 120 minutes there is no need for an Initial consultation.

Book your appointment if you are determined to give up smoking now.

Do you check or repeat things over and over again?
Do you feel compelled to carry out certain actions ?
Do you worry obsessively about health of yourself and/or others?
Do you worry obsessively about contamination by germs or dirt?

If yes, then you may be suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessions could be worrying excessively about death, germs, illness or fearing causing harm to others. Compulsions could be excessive cleaning or checking and repeating tasks or actions.

How can Hypnotherapy help?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps sufferers to overcome the OCD by focusing, not on the obsession, but on reducing the underlying anxiety which is leading to the behaviours or thought patterns. Hypnotherapy helps interrupt these patterns of repetitive behaviour and obsessional thought that are unhelpful and replaces them with ones that are helpful and positive.

Hypnotherapy helps calm your mind down so you can start to relax and enjoy life from a more positive and safer place.

Do you want to put depression into the past?
Can you imagine a future you that is happy and enjoying life again?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for depression does what it says. It helps you look for solutions. It is future orientated which means that we help you find a way forward out of the depressed feelings rather than looking back at the problems which may have led to the depression.

Depression often creeps up  gradually over time.  The severity can range from prolonged feelings of being ‘low’ or not being able to ‘cheer up’ to finding it difficult to function in daily life. You may also experience some other symptoms associated with depression such as:

  • Lack of confidence
  • Fearfulness
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Loss of energy
  • Weight loss or weight gain
  • Loss of pleasure or interest in usual activities
  • Difficulties in thinking, concentrating etc
  • Negative thinking or forecasting the future

Often depression is exacerbated or even caused by substance abuse such as  alcohol, drugs or cigarette smoking.

You may believe nothing can help?

But our primitive and depressed mind is designed to focus on problems. It’s like Velcro for the bad and Teflon for the good!. Any posiitve experiences just don’t stick with us.  It’s a very negative place to be and we can get stuck here. The depressed brain is starved  of positive chemicals and this literally restricts your ability to think clearly and resourcefully. It is difficult to see a way out.

But can you imagine what your life would be like if things got better?

Weight Loss and Management

One of the most common causes of being overweight relates to our attitudes to food, which have often being conditioned since childhood, where food was related to comfort and treats.

Under hypnosis, old childhood behaviour patterns are updated so that food is not used for comfort at times of stress or upset , making the task of losing your weight so much easier.

Hypnotherapy helps you remain motivated and solution driven to be able to move towards your goal of weight loss in a steady and incremental way. Let’s discuss how I can help support your weight loss goals.

IBS may be aggravated by stress and life changes. Hypnotherapy can help to alleviate symptoms often by addressing the underlying anxiety.

Guidelines issued by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) in the UK recommend Hypnotherapy as an option for “intractable” IBS. In fact there are a small number of Hypnotherapists specialising in IBS working within NHS hospitals. Dr Roland Valori, editor of Frontline Gastroenterology, said of the first 100 of his patients treated with hypnotherapy, symptoms improved significantly for nine in 10.
